inFamous coverage coming soon to X-Play, IGN, PS Blog

When we last saw inFamous at Tokyo Game Show in October we thought it looked good, but we were desperate see more. More of the hinted-at morality features, power upgrades and other things that make it stand out against every other superhero sandbox game. Hopefully, that time is soon. inFamous footage will be shown tonight on G4TV's X-Play at 8pm EST (5pm PST).

Then, this coming Friday, IGN will be releasing their hands-on report to the world at large. Not only that, but Nate Fox of Sucker Punch will have a post up on the PlayStation Blog on Friday, too. He'll be giving us a lowdown on what state the game is currently in.
inFamous is pegged for a Spring 2009 release, so we're intrigued to see how far along the game is. Hopefully the coverage we'll see in the next couple of days is enough to get the hype train moving.

Report: PS3 to support 3D stereoscopic gaming in 2009

According to Meant to be Seen, "the world's first and only stereoscopic 3D Certification and Advocacy group," Sony "fully intends" on supporting 3D stereoscope technology next year. What does mean? It means the PS3 will be able to render an image which will appear to be 3D using special glasses. This kind of technology is most commonly found in movie theaters that present 3D movies.

3D stereoscopic technology will be implemented in both movies and games, according to MtbS. A simple firmware update is all that's needed to make this incredible tech possible on the PS3. In fact, the firmware update "may be unique to Sony PS3 versus the other console solutions." Intriguing.

A video explaining the technology can be seen after the break.

Official Resistance 2 tournament begins next week

Think you're a R2 hot shot? Well, now's the time to prove your worth. Major League gaming and PlayStation have teamed up to present a $50,000 R2 Ladder. Some of the best players from all over the country will face off online, and the top 64 teams (256 players total) will win cash and prizes. The first place team will win $9,000 -- not a bad chunk of change for playing a video game, right?

Registration opens next week, on December 22nd. The competition is only open to US residents 17 years of age or older. To find out more, visit GameBattles.

LittleBigPlanet gains new Trophies in Metal Gear Solid pack

The upcoming Metal Gear Solid level pack for LittleBigPlanet will add 11 new Trophies to the game. The Trophy list reveals some exciting details about the upcoming expansion pack. For example, "Rexecutioner" will have you going against a LBP recreation of Metal Gear REX. Looks like Sackpeople will be packin' some heat in the expansion in the form of a paintball gun. If you buy the level pack, you'll be able to include this new paintballing mechanic to your levels. Sounds fun!

Check out the revised Trophy list here.

Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix sells 250k units

Why is Ryu showing us his pearly whites and giving us a thumbs up? That's because Capcom has just announced they have sold an impressive 250,000 copies of Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix across the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. A breakdown of the sales numbers between the two consoles was not released. The game was released on November 25th, so it hasn't even been a month since its debut. According to Capcom, it also broke both day one and week one sales records, and it will "most likely" go on to break the 30-days sales record as well. It might even become the highest grossing digital title ever.

What did you expect? Capcom took an old-school favorite, improved upon it, and unleashed it onto all the
SF fanboys. Street Fighter forever!

Wireless SingStar mics coming in the new year

Remember those wireless SingStar mics? The ones which we thought we'd never see, thanks to Bluetooth issues? Apparently they're coming in the new year and you could've been one of the first to try them out. The SingStar MySpace page has the full details. "Out next year, the official SingStar wireless microphones will work on both PlayStation 2 and PlayStation 3 and allow you to really bust out your moves without busting your console."

The competition is now closed, but 100
SingStar fans will be sent the microphones to try out and keep for themselves before anyone else. We've been after wireless mics for a while now, so we're excited to get our hands on them next year. Hopefully sooner rather than later.
